Principal’s Message

A very warm welcome to River Valley High School!

We will be celebrating our 67th Anniversary in 2023. This is a very significant milestone as we celebrate our long and illustrious history of providing quality education for our students.

As a Special Assistance Plan (SAP) and Autonomous Status (AS) school that offers a 6-year Integrated Programme, we provide a holistic education that is academically robust, with a strong focus on character development, strengthening resilience and well-being. During their time with us, our students will develop dispositions, skills, values and knowledge that will help them flourish both in school and in the world beyond school.

We aim to nurture bilingual students with the attributes and sensitivities to stay effective and relevant in a globalised, multi-racial and multi-cultural world. Our bicultural learning environment provides our students with the fluency and skills to understand, appreciate and navigate different cultural contexts, and regional and global perspectives.

Our RV Integrated Programme (RV IP) offers a balanced education curriculum that develops all students’ interests and talents. It focuses on nurturing our students’ curiosity, passion and joy of learning, engaging them with interesting and intellectually stimulating lessons and learning experiences. At RVHS, we believe that learning must come alive for our students, where they are continually provided with authentic learning experiences. Students acquire and apply critical and innovative thinking through meaningful and purposeful learning projects both within the school as well as in the community. Most notably, our Construct, Integrate, Differentiate (CID) curriculum and Values-in-Action Programme empower our students to be empathetic, innovative and critical thinkers interested in understanding and solving real-world problems.

What is the essence of being an RVian, a 立化人? RVians are honorable and upright, humble to learn yet self-confident, rooted in tradition and heritage while constantly seeking to innovate, and proactively pursuing their dreams while staying resilient to challenges. Our RVians embody the 立化 spirit by pursuing excellence in learning, thoughts and deeds, putting in their best effort, and serving others with heart and passion. They actively contribute back to society to build a stronger and better future for themselves and their country.

In RV, there is a strong sense of belonging, trust and connectedness, and in this warm and caring community, lifelong friendships are forged. This is demonstrated through how our staff educate and support their students, and peers look out for one another. Many of our alumnus have returned to contribute and serve in their Alma Mater in various capacities.

We strongly believe that our students have the capacity and potential for leadership and through our various student development programmes, our students will develop into strong leaders with integrity and honour, compassion and kindness, the heart of service and desire to be positive change-makers.

Let us forge ahead as we commemorate RV 67 and build a promising future for our students in the years to come!

立化旨在培育对世界格局具有洞悉力及敏感性的双语双文化人才，在全球化、多元种族和多元文化的环境中游刃有余，发挥有效作用。在立化双语双文化环境的熏陶下，学生能自信地驾驭跨文化交流技能，鉴赏和理解跨文化语境，以此培养他们的区域和全球视角。

立化的直通车课程致力于推展心智合一的均衡教育，着重拓展学生的兴趣所长，让他们施展才华。通过实况学习空间，激发学生的好奇心和学习热情，享受学习并学以致用。生动有趣的学校和社区活动体验让他们能发挥慎思明辨、创新求异的精神。学生批判性思维能力的体现有赖于我校旗舰课程——“格物致知课程”（CID）。通过“格物致知学习法”，学生掌握良好的学习态度、思维技能和整合构建知识的能力，能解决生活问题并探讨世界课题。

立化学子、立化人的精髓是什么？他们正直磊落、谦恭自信、勇于追梦，根扎传统但懂得创新求异，面对挑战仍坚韧不屈，发扬了立化精神。他们好学不倦，在学习、思想和行为上不断精益求精、尽心尽力服务人群，始终秉持着为国家为社会作出贡献的大我精神。

在立化这个温暖的大家庭里，立化人有着强烈的归属感、信任以及凝聚力，彼此建立深厚友谊。在立化，有师长的关爱与呵护，有同侪间相互的照顾。校友们时刻关心母校发展，总是以不同方式对母校作出贡献。

我们深信立化学子具有领导能力和潜力。在立化各项领袖培育计划下，他们将茁长成有尊严诚信、善良有爱心，愿意奉献的积极变革者。
